Guide to Moraira

Teulada-Moraira is a municipality located in Alicante Province in the Communidad of Valencia, only a 45-minute drive from Alicante airport,  Teulada-Moraira has excellent road links with close access to the AP7 motorway and the national road, N332 which runs from Valencia to Almeria.

Moraira´s historic roots were as a fishing village, which is still evident, the weekly fish market is very popular on the Costa Blanca, and it still has 5 operational fishing boats, which you can watch unloading their catch. In addition, it boasts some of the best Moscatel grapes in the region which are used to make the local Moscatel wine in the Bodega in Teulada, only a 6km drive from Moraira. 

Beaches: Moraira has a 4Km stretch of coastline, with 3 blue flag beaches, L´Ampolla, Platgetes, and El Portet as well as the smaller coves of L´Andrago, Punta Estrella, Cap Blanc, and La Cala.

Restaurants You are spoilt for choice in Moraira and Teulada. In Teulada, you have a wealth of mainly "Spanish" restaurants, including the "Cultural" and "Las Vegas". In Moraira, there are an even larger number of restaurants, cafes, and bars to suit every taste and budget. If you are looking for an original tapas experience then try the Costa Blanca Bar on Calle del Dr. Calatayud, here you can sit outside and watch the world go by whilst sampling some of the best-priced tapas in Moraira. The food choice in Moraira ranges from Indian, Chinese, Mexican, Greek, Spanish, Pizzeria, and Italian, the list is endless, there is something for every budget. Moraira is primarily a family resort in the Summer, with lots of fiestas and fun for everyone to enjoy. 

Golf Courses: There is a 9-hole course located at Golf Ifach in San Jaime or you can visit The La Sella Golf Club and Resort where you can choose from three distinct courses. The "Llebeig," a 9-hole south-facing course surrounded by lovely pine trees and with sweeping views of the Montgó. The "Gregal," a flatter 9-hole course with difficult water hazards, or the "Mestral," a north-facing 9-hole course with spectacular sea vistas. There is also the 9-hole course in Javea, or only 1.5 hour drive and you can visit the Golf Courses in Villamartin, close to Torrevieja.

Shopping:  Moraira is full of small boutiques, tourist shops, Restaurants, and Bars, though if you are looking for a little bit more then you can visit the Centro Commercial in Ondarra, which also houses a large Carrefour Supermarket, as well as a Sports and Activities shop, Decathlon 

Education : There are Junior-Infant schools in both Moraira and Teulada  

All children in Moraira-Teulada attend the Comprehensive school, IES Teulada

Medical : Moraira and Teulada each have their own Central Salud (Public), where there is an Emergency 24x7 clinic, the first port of call when you need to have minor injuries looked at, though for more serious injuries it is only a 15-minute drive to the Denia Public Hospital and their own Emergency care unit. 

Supermarkets: There are a wealth of Supermarkets in the Moraira, including Consum, Mercadona, Aldi, Carrefour, Pepe La Sal. Lidl and Charter. 

Area: The municipality has two parts, Moraira which is on the coast, and Teulada which is located 6kms inland. Moraira has remained unspoiled by the large-scale tourism which has affected other towns, and it retains all of its charms, as does Teulada.

Today Moraira´s economy is based on tourism and property for sale in Moraira, though there are no high-rise apartments, only beautiful villas, with the construction sector strictly regulated as to what can be built. To protect the heritage of the area, the Teulada-Moraira council passed laws protecting the abundant pine trees and limiting the height of buildings, which has ensured that the town retains its natural beauty.

Moraira stretches from San Jaime, on the boundary of Benissa to El Portet, and inland to Teulada, all of which are in different zones, Cap Blanc, San Jaime, Moravit, el Pinar de L´Advocat, La Sabatera, El Portet, El Tesoro, Paichi and Benimeit. 

Moraira also has a Marina, with its own Club Nautico, from where you can sit and watch the sunset over the sea, with views to the Penon Ifach in Calpe. 

Property: There are a variety of types of properties for sale in Moraira, from Large Modern Villas to more traditional Spanish style villas, to Apartments, within the center of Moraira to small urbanisations of townhouses and Bungalows, (e.g. Moraira Park, Aldea Recreativa) something to suit all budgets. 

Climate: With over 320 days of sunshine, the World Health Organization has designated it as "environmentally ideal."

Properties for sale in Moraira start from €130,000 for an Apartment or €220,000 for a Villa, depending the type of property you are looking for will determine the zone that you should look for a property in. If you are looking for sea views then Benimeit is a beautiful location, however, if you are looking for a property for sale in Moraira that is within walking distance to Moraira center and local amenities then La Sabatera would be preferable.
