The menu del dia is the mainstay of Spanish Culture, every Spanish village, town, or city will have restaurants that advertise a menu del dia, (Menu of the day). The further you travel inland from the coastal areas, the cheaper the menu del dia becomes. in the evening, it's known as the "Menu del Noche".
The Menu del Dia generally is a 3-course meal, (smaller than the "Menu del Noche"), with prices starting from €10, with a drink included, for this you will have a starter, Melon, Mussels, etc, with the main course of Chicken, Paella, etc and a dessert, ice cream, etc.
The Menu del Noche is usually a more grand affair with a greater selection of options and larger portions, of course, the price is a little higher, but it will still be less than 18€ for a 3-course meal.
If you want some of the best Tapas, or Menu del Dia then head to the local Polígonos (Industrial park) where they have some of the best menus for the best prices. You can spot them very easily as the number of Vans, Trucks, Guardia Civil, and Policia Local cars give them away.
In Benissa Polígonos there are two, Casa Manel, and Bar La Pedrera, (Or Bar Frau in Benissa town) both are famous for their home-cooked food, and Tapas, you only have to look at how packed they are every day of the working week and what better way than to sit in such a wonderful atmosphere and improve your Spanish to boot.
