Each Town and City has its own Central Salud, this is the location you will go to when you want to see your local General practitioner.
The normal opening hours of the Central Salud are from 08:30 to 15:00, after these hours the Central Salud offer Urgencias support, which means in the event of an accident or a health emergency then you should go to your local Central Salud before going to the Urgencies (Accident and Emergency) Dept in the main Hospital in Denia.
The benefit of going to your local Central Salud out of the normal surgery hours is that you are seen by a Doctor very quickly and they will determine if you need more specialist care directly in the Hospital.
Some of the examples for this would be where you have a history of Kidney stone attacks, these are usually treated with Pain Medications until the pain subsides, this can be done easily in your local Central Salud.
Another benefit of going to your local Central Salud Urgencias is that if you need to be admitted to Urgencias in your local Hospital they will stabilise your situation and then arrange for an Ambulance to take you to the Hospital. Upon your arrival at the hospital, the Urgencias Department know you have been seen by a Doctor and thus you avoid long waits to be triaged and seen by a Doctor
The Central Salud are also the location for a range of other services, including mental health, and pregnancy, services do differ from Central Salud to Central Salud, so it is best to check what services your Central Salud offers.
